How to Translate a YouTube Video Transcript

Start with the best available caption track
Translation quality depends on the source text. If a video offers both manual captions and auto-generated captions, the manual track may have better punctuation and names. If several languages are available, choose the track that most closely matches the spoken language before translating.
Why subtitle fragments should not be translated one by one
Caption segments are timing units, not necessarily sentences. A single thought can be split across several segments. Translating each fragment independently can change pronouns, word order, or meaning because the model cannot see the neighboring words.
A better workflow groups nearby segments for context, translates them as connected speech, then maps the result back to the original timeline without splitting words.
